Wellington School Christmas Fair

Thank you to Wellington School and everyone who supported us at the Wellington School Christmas Fair on Saturday!  We actually ended up with two stalls thanks to the efforts of Thea and poor Jenny who was too unwell to go (we hope she is feeling much better!). We had a Christmas tombola stall and our fundraising stall and met lots of people - thank you everyone because the combined efforts of the stalls and the donations raised a total of £221 for the ponies, which is so greatly appreciated!  Faie and Rachel ponysitted for us - and Thea and Julie donated lots of extra items for the P4P tombola and stall.

Oscar's Anniversary

A year ago today, on the 24th November 2014...gorgeous Oscar the Bearded Collie arrived at the farm, adopted by Ted and Jenny!  He came from The Dog's Trust at Ilfracombe.

He's much loved by everyone, including volunteers who are normally frightened of dogs!  We bought him some special treats for today so he could celebrate!  He is nearly 14 years old and this is his sixth home...and we think he knows this is definitely his forever home!!  Here are some of his best photos from the last year!
First ever meeting!
The Dog's Trust shaved off his hair before he was
allowed to go to his new home...rather a chilly event for November!

Out in the fields!

He loves to run!...

...He enjoys cuddles...

...And adventures out and about!...

...With or without the ponies!...

...He's loved by everyone!...

...Chief haymaking supervisor dog...
...And he's very handsome and photogenic too!!  He even made
it into our p4p calendar for 2016!!
 Happy Anniversary Oscar!

Christmas Without Cruelty Festival

We had a fantastic day yesterday at the Christmas Without Cruelty Festival in Exeter - meeting lots of lovely people who were very supportive of our work...and of course lots of the other wonderful "pro" animal groups who had stalls there!

We had such a busy day selling items on our stall - and we raised an amazing £401.30, which I believe is the highest amount ever for one of our fundraising stalls...so thank you everyone!!  Jane's horse and pony treats were very popular indeed!  We did try them with our ponies last week - they certainly approved and found them very scrumptious!

Thank you very much to Mark and everyone who arranges the festival - we really appreciate all the hard work they put in to make it such a wonderful event!

Whilst we were down in Exeter, Rachel was very kindly pony sitting for us, which we really appreciate - it certainly makes the start and end of our day much easier!!

Dartmoor Pony Meat Rumours...

There have been rumours circulating on Dartmoor that Harrods are stocking/going to stock Dartmoor Pony meat.  We are delighted to say that these rumours are completely untrue and are not to be believed.

Harrods have been contacted directly and they have stated that they do not stock pony meat and "Have no intentions of stocking Dartmoor Pony Meat in Harrods in the future".

We did a lot of work on this subject last year with retailers and the results can be seen here: http://www.people4ponies.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/more-research-results-surrounding.html

Perfect for Christmas!

Here's a sneak peek at some of the super items we have been donated to sell on our Christmas stalls!  Jenny and her Mum Liz Hebden have very kindly donated a very skilfully knitted, pony themed jumper which Liz has knitted.  This photo really doesn't do it justice!  It's size 32 inch chest and made from 100% acrylic wool so will be coming with us to the Christmas Without Cruelty Festival!

And Jane Schofield has kindly donated some of her 100% Apple "All Natural Horse Treats" for us to take to our stalls.  We can do orders via Paypal too so please do get in touch if you'd like to order anything as we can arrange postage!

Jeremy

Jeremy and Tilly
It was lovely to see Jeremy and his family a couple of weeks ago - he's a very happy boy and doing great with Rowan and Anita...he was so lucky to find them!  Rowan will be off to Uni soon so Jeremy's going to stay at home and wait for her to come home for the long holidays!!

Oh dear! We have had a lot of rain - today it was particularly squelchy in our fields! I'm sure the ponies are still looking gorgeous!

Christmas is Coming...Please Remember Easyfundraising!

The Christmas themed adverts have started already and stores are stocking up on their Christmas supplies!!  With Christmas approaching fast please remember us when doing your Christmas shopping online!

The ponies can gain donations from hundreds of popular retailers when you shop online...buying your groceries online, presents and gifts, and even if you are travelling by train, going away on holiday or staying in a hotel.  It costs you nothing...you just have to go through the Easyfundraising website to go to your usual shopping website...and there's no catch - and you can ask not to be sent any extra emails.  To reach the website go to the following link:        http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk

Waitrose are also back on board with this scheme and the ponies can get a £1 donation when you order groceries online!  So many big retailers participate including Amazon, Ebay, Vistaprint as well as the big supermarkets.

Thanks to all our supporters we raised £18.65 between July and September using Easyfundraising...and since we signed up to it we've raised a total of £338.18... so a big THANK YOU to all of you for your internet shopping!

And...we have two big Christmas events this month where we will be having our P4P stall - the super Christmas Without Cruelty Festival in Exeter on the 21st November, and it's going to be our first time at the Wellington School Fayre on the 28th November which we are very excited about!  We have lots of lovely fair trade gifts for sale, calendars (if we have stock remaining!!) and a delicious selection of Margaret's home-made jams and marmalades!

November

It's the beginning of November so time to update the blog with the latest calendar photo.  This month Rocky is the star pony, choosing to say hello to Peter on his first ever visit - Rocky greeted him with a friendly snuffle on the ear - how special is that!  Luckily the camera was at hand to capture the moment!

We are delighted to say that our 2016 calendars are selling very fast!  Thank you everyone for your support - I know there were people who expressed an interest in ordering but haven't yet done so...we don't want anyone to be disappointed so please can you let us know if you wish to place an order!

We've put a link to Mousey's post on the left hand column of this page - it's still very important to us that people know what happened...and commenting can continue there.
