For other livestock there are very strict rules about not turning out rams and bulls on the moor and it would not be acceptable if these covered other owners livestock. It should be remembered that the ponies at the market were just a proportion - there'll be more ponies that were removed who'll never be seen/photographed...and of course the mares who do go back will already be pregnant for next year.People4ponieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10905061094292424429noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3143214369138442022.post-88014441142970674262019-06-10T22:34:27.394+01:002019-06-10T22:34:27.394+01:00Congratulations to Margaret on her well earned awa...Congratulations to Margaret on her well earned award. I just wish the ponies on Bodmin were so well looked after but with the type of owners they have it is highly unlikely that they will experience this level of care. Sometimes I think perhaps that naming and shaming the owners of the starving ponies might just work quite well. I myself ended up saving 2 poor pathetic ponies from 1 of these sales. Thanks to a very good friend the colt who was given 24 hours to live due to being so emaciated under his long coat and riddled with worms and lice he pulled through and made a wonderful little horse. The other filly who kicked the owner in the face at the sale after being hit with a broom i purchased as i was convinced she would suffer when she got home it took 4 days of hell to get near her but she came round in the end. But why ,why does it have to be like this. I also am ashamed to be part of the human race when in todays age this is still happening. Poor poor ponies its just barbaric and awful.Even the criminals in our country get treated sooo much better and these poor things are innocent. Wish the markets would stop, maybe thats what we need to do is campaign against the markets.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10073655715806313560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3143214369138442022.post-51244001522227114972016-10-26T09:00:54.020+01:002016-10-26T09:00:54.020+01:00Where exactly IS this place??Where exactly IS this place??Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13316226877117987120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3143214369138442022.post-48594577371254175512016-10-25T22:28:34.630+01:002016-10-25T22:28:34.630+01:00This sounds absolutely barbaric, so have the vario...This sounds absolutely barbaric, so have the various local animal protection societies been notified? There are no excuses for the owners of these ponies - this cannot happen again. Through your research they now have a way forward in order to protect their ponies, supplement their feeding and create a safer environment for them to live in. The fact that sheep and cattle are removed from the moor in Winter points to the likelihood that the farmers know full well that the grazing is totally inadequate to support life during that time. Shame on them for leaving the ponies to suffer. They are culpable.
